Have had a Citizen Eco-Drive (H500) for about 6 Years with no problems at all .However , a couple of weeks ago it stopped . I left it on the window sill for a couple of days and expected it to work . It seems to have charged it but it is still not working.
The seconds hand is working but the hour and minute hand arent moving.
Is there any way to re-set it ? I seem to remember reading it could be done.
Or is it a case of sending it off for repair ?
Thanks :money:

The only reset available on these is for zero positioning of the chrono seconds hand. If the main hour and minute hands don't run then there's a fault.
From the point of view of repair, it would be normal to replace the movement complete but the H500 is obsolete. Fortunately, the H501 is a direct replacement and pretty reasonably priced - in fact, very reasonably priced considering how sophisticated it is!
Just checked my parts account and you should be able to get one supplied, fitted, and guaranteed with change from £100 by an independent. Citizen UK may quote a little more for the "manufacturer experience" but any indie asking over that is taking the mickey0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Have tried the zero positioning but still nothing. Will have to think about sending it away but will definately have a look at the H501

You might be better off buying a new Eco Drive watch. They are usually not very expensive.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

By having the movement replaced that's effectively what you're getting - a brand new watch inside your old case, using your old hands and dial. If there's any sort of sentimental attachment then it's the best of both worlds. You get to keep "your" watch but it's likely life starts again from new.
Since this is MSE, it's also quite a bit cheaper. Double checked with Citizen yesterday and I could supply and fit an H501 for £85 all inclusive - well under half the price of a new equivalent watch and a lot less than the time it would take to strip and service / repair the original movement0
