Help with improving credit score

Hi

I just checked my credit score and it is fair. I want to improve this, any ideas? I have no defaults etc but i have alot of potential access to credit. I've read that closing down credit accounts can adversly effect this? So now i'm unsure what to do , i can close down 5 accounts? Should i do this gradually? Or all at the same time

Just use a card or two regularly and pay off in full each month.

Whether you need to close accounts dpeneds on your limit, balances and income.

Ignore the credit score - it's irrelevant.

I have 4 cards that effectively i dont use, with 1000,1000, 1000, 2000 credit limits on them,

So i could close down two perhaps and do what you suggest with the other two - using them, paying them off monthly?

If I were you I would close a couple down for 'neatness', especially as you aren't using them.

Don't close down your oldest accounts, though, as a long relationship with a credit provider is a plus.
