car insurance query after an accident

Something has bee bugging thought I get the forums views

I had an accident the car is a right off, I am still awaiting payment

my insurance runs out at the end of august, I received a renewal letter
does that mean I need to keep paying for insurance until my claim has been resolved.

However the funny thing is - They asked for the insurance cert back and all the car docs

The renewal letter has been sent out automatically, the accident is covered by your soon to run out insurance. Your claim is covered by this.

Not sure why they asked for all the docs other than it being part of the claims process, why not give them a ring to find out and also ask them how the payment is coming along/

The renewal would have been sent automatically by there system, would be best to contact them to lapse policy though incase they do automatic renewals.

They will always ask for cert back after write off, because they would be liable for claims if you were to still drive the car even though the car was deemed write off by them.

the car docs were asked for because they have decided it is a write of and you have agreed to let them pay you money for the car so, the car will belong to them and this is why they want the documents
