Npower - data collection

My son is in the unfortunate position of having his electricity supplied by Britain's worst company. He has resolutely refused to provide them with his date of birth (data protection and all that), but now it transpires that they have it anyway. Where might they have got it from? One possibility is that his landlord provided it when he took up the tenancy, but I think this is unlikely. Another, more sinister, possibility is that they obtained it from the CRAs. Is there any precedent in CRAs supplying such data to their customers?

The CRAs will data match. Your son will have agreed that NPower can share information - both ways - with the CRAs0

He agreed nothing. It was a deemed contract from the outset and hasn't changed. It's interesting that Npower are the only organisation that would report him to the CRAs from his current address. All his other "arrangements" are handled from his former address - my address - and the addresses are not linked. Neither Npower nor the CRAs had access to his DoB; now they have. But hey; it's incorrect. :rotfl:0 -

Hello GingerBob,
Thanks for your post about your son’s energy account.
We request customer’s personal details when setting up an energy account to allow us to clear Data Protection when we receive customer contact.
Our email address can be found on our profile page, if your son can send us an email I’m happy to look into how we obtained the incorrect date of birth.
Thanks

I for one found N Power one of the best company to supply me. Excellent online facilities and found customer service for me excellent as well.
I can only speak from my experience.0 -
I for one can totally agree that NPower are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. After recently moving house and them being the current energy supplier I have never received such bad service.0

after doing enforcement for 12 years for them, will say those left are idiots. op they can obtain his details from corporate 192, Experian , GB Group.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
