Two different finance agreements???
Options
Hi all,
About a month or so ago I purchased a new car from a main dealership. I already had a new car with them, and wanted to part-ex it and get a new one (circumstances changed, so needed something bigger).
As part of the deal my salesmen told me I could wait a month and not have to pay anything in August, and that my first payment would be taken on 1st September.
When it came to signing the finance deal, his dealership's finance department emailed me the document with the wrong dates, indicating a first payment in August. I contacted him and he arranged his finance department to send out a new contract, which they did immediately and with the correct initial payment date of 1st September.
I now have the finance company (which is owned by the car company in question) saying that I missed my payment in August. I've explained to them that they were reading the wrong contract, and that I received a second one with different dates which I signed.
The problem is that my signature on the contract is on a different page to the payment schedule - the signature page is just full of their standard Ts&Cs and finance jargon. However both pages contain the account number (and the account numbers are the same on both of the two finance contracts).
It's likely that the dealership accidentally sent the initial finance deal with the signed page of the second finance deal to the credit company, or that the system wasn't updated with the second finance deal in the first place.
They've asked me to post them the updated contract to prove that it exists, and to hopefully enable them to re-write the finance deal.
Just wondering if anybody's ever had any similar problems, and whether anyone can offer any advice?
Thanks,
Darren

Admin problems aren't unusual.
Just comply with their request and give them a chance to put things right.
If they don't then start their formal complaints procedure. You have the paperwork so cannot be penalised for their error.0
