Shoe Size 39, 40 or 41 ????

Ive been on a bit of a spree buying boots and they all seem to vary over what a size '7' actually is,

i have an old pair from next that say size 41 is a 7, a new pair from ebay that say a 40 is a 7 and the latest pair arrive with a 39 on it.:confused:

Ive sent the seller of the last pair a message as they are really tight and im sure a 39 is a 6 but cant find anything that backs that up

can anyone shed any light ??

TIA mishka

Personally for me 39=5 , 40=6 , 41=7 but I did have a pair of levi trainers that were marked a uk 6 but eu 39. So perhaps it varies. I know that I when selline shoes european buyers often email to ask to confirm the eu size if I've only stated the uk size, always wondered why as I thought they were standard sizes but maybe not.

    I'm a 9, and I KNOW that's a 43 (UK sizing).

A 7 is a 41. (remember a UK 6 is a 7 in American sizing which is where issues over the 40/41 may arise)

They should definately NOT be a 39.

These days its just guesswork. I gave up ordering shoes online because of this very problem. Marks & Spencers convert from the old British Standard shoes sizing ie. UK8 = 42. I am generally a 7.5 so go for a 41. Nowadays it is just try for size - thats if you are lucky enough to be able too - most shops sell out of larger ones quick. Take a cheapo flight to any town in Germany and a size 41/42/43 is plentiful.

I tried on an 8 in M&S recently... not a hope! Usually I can get into an 8, but not there... and the staff told me they don't do shoes any bigger.

  • Shoe sizes are there as only a guide.

It all depends on the style, manufacturer, country of manufacturer etc.

I've got loads of different styles of footwear in my wardrobe ranging from uk3 1/2 to Uk5- don't worry about what it says on the base it's the fit that counts.

    Size 11 UK should be a 46!

I have now started looking just at the European sizes as I have found the UK sizes to be less than accurate.

Guess the chinese making them take a rough stab at the size...:rotfl:
