Nationwide and Portman - After Merger

I think ex-Portman product admin is still done by old Portman teams so might not get mixed in with the pre-merger NBS work yet.
i asked at a longstanding NW branch today was told all isa transfers are done by NW head office, i saw the glint in her eye as to say u can ask me as many questions as u like i can make up answers for anything thrown at me. :rotfl:0 -
Quote....Branches can be used by Nationwide and Portman customers - some branches currently have Nationwide and Portman computer systems, others have just Nationwide systems and have a temporary Cross-Society system which still allows transactions but can take longer as book transactions have to be handwritten.......End Of Quote
Have patience with the staff in your branch - its a difficult time for them so they will do their best to process your transaction as swiftly as possible!
I do have patience but felt more than put out when I went to withdraw my Portman Money out at the Nationwide this morning only to be told to come back when we are not so busy:eek: ...suggested I avoid lunchtime and the school run also...he said around 2.45pm and that of course will result in a days loss of interest before I even bank it elsewhere..I asked if I could make an appointment for this...no was the answer...Mrs Happy...normally0 -
I went to transfer the hundred and odd quid in my Portman Instant Access 0.1% gross a/c. to my excellent paying Flexaccount on Saturday.
They made me keep a pound and the odd pence in it and took my book off me saying that it had to be sent to Bournemouth for closure. It will be returned to me when the a/c. has been closed in the fullnes of time.
I wonder if they'll use first class stamps like Portman have been known to use in the past ?0 -
Anyone know when/how we get the dosh?0

Well....arrived at 2.45pm and joined the portman queue again in nationwide...Not too long before I reached the help desk and all went well and a cheque would be ready at 4.00pm:eek: so put on my cool hat and went for a stroll etc........4.00pm and entered...soon got ushered to normal queue for cashiers and within a few mins got to another real life cashier...she took my portmans now transfered to a nationwide book for transaction of a real cheque for me to transfer to a better place....but on issueing the cheque 'said cashier' realised not only had she spelt my name wronglyh but she had also added on the interest twice ....so although various people kept offering me refreshments...fine but not what I needed... I did not get my cheque until just after so called closing time which = my deposit venue was also CLOSED so another day of lost interest...but I do believe if I could have got my brain in gear under the rather hectic situation and had some down to earth honest help I could have transfered it electronically the MSE way...but when they knew I was closing my a/c the help was 0 and that really says it all. all not helped by apparent fact that no building society branches in my experience are prepared to transact withdrawals electronically by BACS, they all want to issue cheques.
