here are a few of the things I picked up at Home Goods (the US counterpart to Home Sense, I believe).

There are loads of things you can do quite cheaply. Do you have a budget?
One easy thing to do is to collect loads of empty jars and bottles. You can them paint them (pour paint inside, put lid on and shake, then remove lid to let dry) or fill with coloured liquids or creepy looking things and then add some labels - there are loads of free to use ones on places like pinterest.
Just getting some black paper/card and cutting out silhouettes for windows is very effective.
Make sure the DJ has a smoke machine for fog- you need fog at halloween.
Have a browse on Halloweenforum.com and other halloweeny places and you will find lots of ideas. If you have the ability to get the kids going to the party to make stuff too, then even better, you will get more done and they will enjoy joining in.
If you want props, then making them is cheap and fun, but can be time consuming.
I found a cheap cool prop to make here -

You can order all the parts online from either amazon or ebay for under £20, then just add to a wooden box and you are away.
You can also use speaker cable to run from the switching unit to more of the actuators (up to 4) so you can make four of these, or similar items (banging gate etc) and run them off the one controller.
The list of parts is under the video, so you just need to search for them in UK amazon/ebay. Have to order quickly to get for Halloween though.0 -
You should also be going round charity shops/car boot sales etc to pick up things that you can spray with black paint (£1 a can at poundland) to look creepy.0

All the Poundshops, b&m, Home bargains etc all have halloween stock out, as do Asda.
the Range has the best selection IMO, but some good finds to be had at most. Dissapointed no Skulls about though0 -

Oh, we do...LOL...especially Christmas (which is my least favorite).
I don't know what the 'fight' is about but if it's another person, I say go for it anyway. My dh is usually somewhat opposed to lots of frou-frou but is always thrilled with it when I've done it.0 -

Last year we (me and children) covered old jars with pva and coloured tissue paper then stuck opaque black faces on them. We also wrapped some jars in strips of scrap fabric and put wobbly eyes on. We then put tea lights in the jars and placed outside our front door. We got lots of compliments and asked how we made them.0
