So now we wait to see, I'm not sure I could cope with an appeal, I'm in bits now having subjected him to this, I feel so awful!!

I would as a general point recomend - even if you get a good result - get a copy of the medical report so you can use it in future if still appropriate.
    They at times destroy information.

I'm sorry to be a pain, how do I do that? I would like to see what is written to see if it ties up at all with what happened. Thank you for your advice. I forgot to mention that the GP had re-referred him to a pain management clinic last time he saw him (he's on 4 different types of pain meds & was recently changed from one to another one, since then he's had more frequent bouts of upset tummy) should I call anyone to tell them?
One positive thing she did say, she agreed it's a disgrace at the total lack of specialist services in Scotland & was pleased that I had started a mini campaign in contacting & talking to local msp's /mp's, I'm only one voice, but I can be persistent & as my husband says, I can be a mighty pain in the backside, so I'll keep sending my letters/emails.

When you get the report, there should be a contact number. Phone them and request the report.

To get a copy of the assessment report just ring PIP and ask for a copy to be sent to you. They'll send you one as soon as they recieve it. Any extra evidence should be sent straight to PIP but remember never send originals.

Sorry, me again, is that Atos or DWP? Thanks for your help

Rang DWP today to request a copy of the report, was surprised to hear it had arrived from Atos to themselves today (wasn't expecting it so quickly as she had written everything on paper & not a computer), apparently a case worker has been emailed to say it's back, does anyone know how long it takes for them to make a decision & how we receive it? The atos assessor suggested we'd be telephoned with a letter to follow, but the lady at dwp call centre said it would be by letter & could take up to 8 weeks from today, she did say there was a huge amount of paperwork (69 documents scanned in & the report was very lengthy with lots of text, not sure if that's good or bad).

There's no time frame as to how long it takes. It will all depend on whether the decision maker thinks there's enough of evidence. When they decide they have enough they'll write to you and tell you they have all they need to make a decision. When a decision is made the DWP will write to you. You could also ring the DWP (PIP) in a few weeks and ask if a decision has been made. Sometimes people have them back quite quickly. Mine took just 2 weeks last year.
  • Had a copy of the report today, went through it with a copy of the descriptor points table & it looks like the assessor has recommended 36 in daily living & 22 in mobility, they've also suggested a review in 6yrs, amazing how much they noticed in the time they were here, they picked up on stuff I'd never even thought about, I suppose it's because we've been living with it all so long that it's second nature to us. I rang the dwp to update them re the pain specialist as we now have an appt through & the claim has been looked at & the decision is in it's final stages (whatever that means), so it's still wait & see what they decide.
  • Hello everyone, just to say, spoke to dwp today, a decision letter was sent out Friday (though not received yet) but the man was able to read the letter out as it was scanned onto the system, he has been awarded enhanced in both daily living & mobility. Many thanks to all who contributed to this thread!
