Good Morning all!
I'll try and be brief! Back ground:
I swapped supplier back in August '06 from N-Power to British Gas, a year on and I still haven't received a bill.
I have contacted BG many times, first time, yes no problems we will send you a bill etc, 2nd time I asked them to merge my bills to gain from the duel fuel prices (as I have always received my electric form them), and the third time I call to see why I still haven't had a bill they tell me they haven't received a final reading from N-Power!!
Today I received a final bill from NP, and shock, horror, they owe me £8!
Now, assuming that BG get round to sending me a bill, can they insist I pay a full years bill up front? Where do I stand?
Thanks x x

If You were with Npower and changed to Bgas, then Bgas should provide Npower with the final reading, which it would appear they have now done if Npower have sent out a final statement, this being the reading Bgas intend to start billing you from.
Bgas can inist you pay the past years bill as you have used the energy, but if you speak to them you may be able to arrange a payment plan if you are unable to pay the bill in full.0 -
:T Thank you, it's a pity BG couldn't have been as clear as you! I thought it was NP that was holding up the process lol x0

You're very welcome, hope you get it all sorted out soon0

They should allow you to spread the payments over 12 months.
With regards to th changeover reading, if you provided BG with a read on the date of the transfer they should pass that t nPower, however if you didn't then BG wait to be given an estimate.
If BG haven't issued you a bill and are at fault, they can only backdate a maximum of 12 months charges.
They do not need to 'merge your accounts' to have a dual fuel discount, as they still issue seperate gas and electricity bills. If you haven't been getting your dual fuel discount, call up and get them to credit it to your electricity account for you.0
