Can anyone give a guesstimate what a dent fix will cost?

Three pictures of a dent in a brand new leased Audi A6, some  in a knackered blue van drove into it whilst stationary and sped off before the driver could get their reg. 6:45 this morning in Camberwell, if anyone wants to own up before we have to try to get CCTV footage, etc...!

The policy excess isn't going to be cheap - do we think these can be panel beaten? Or replacing panels? Anyone got any idea how badly we'll have to shell out (London or North UK prices if that makes a difference) to make it look proper again?

Many thanks in advance - I'm not very car-y, so don't come by these parts of the forum often, but would be so grateful for any comments by anyone able to tell me how big a deal it's going to be?!

I recently had a dent similar in size to that in a similar position but over my rear wheel arch along with a couple of fairly deep scratches in the paintwork right down to the metal but without all the extra scuffing further down the arch.

I ended up getting it repaired via Chipsaway - Opinions on them vary but it seems to come down to how decent each individual franchise is and the one in my area seems fairly well regarded, they couldn't do an on-the-spot repair thanks to the dent but took it back to their workshop (they collected the car and brought it back, also had a courtesy car available but them collecting was easier for us) and the total cost was £204.
We obviously just paid this ourselves, as the excess alone going through insurance (without having any details of the muppet who hit us) would have been £150.

Perfectly happy with the job they've done, at that price I was skeptical but you'd never know the car had been damaged.

Seeing that its a brand new car (and an expensive one) I would personally take it to the Audi dealer. You may pay more but its piece of mind.

Not an ideal place to have dented as it's on a crease, which can make it more fiddly. Saying that, I had a dent (tiny in comparison to that) on a crease and managed to get it knocked out without any issues.

On a side note, you say it's a brand new lease, is the wheel kerbed?

the alloy wheel in the picture looks to have been scratched by hitting a kerb.

How much is your excess and do you own the car or is it on finance?
  • You don't need the expense of an Audi garage here plenty of decent firms about that will charge way less than a main dealer and do just as good of a job to, Ask friends do some searches and make sure they are accredited.
