Domestic Burglar Alarm System

Hi All

Just wonder if any of you can recommend me a good & reliable company to install a burglar alarm system in a new build in Worcestershire.

I guess things like this, nothing is better than a good recommendation…

Many thanks in advance!

Depends what you want to spend and why.

You can various good DIY systems either from the DIY stores or the internet - check 'Which' reports or post on the in your home forum.

If you want discounts on home insurance you'll need a professionally installed AND monitored alarm system which means monthly/annual fees on top of the installation.

    Thanks for your advice.

I am looking for a wired system which most insurance companies would accept as for a policy. I have heard that some insurance companies would not accept the application if the alarm system isn't installed in a specific standard or so.

I will try the other forum too, many thanks!

As I said, for insurance you'll need a professional, monitored system, not a (wired) DIY job and not a cowboy installer.

My insurance discount is for a. having an alarm b. having it professionally installed and c. having it serviced annually. No requirement for monitoring.

Do you mind to give me more info about your alarm system please? Such as, what company installed it for you, what made/brand it is, etc.

    Many thanks

Same as us, we also have the NSI Gold Certificate etc. for the insurance company.

We've got a Pyronix Enforcer Home Control+ system with the App Kit. We pretty much went all out as my partner is a bit paranoid (considering I'm the one whose been burgled in the past). Was in the region of £770 but it's an awesome system.

    Excellent, thanks for the info.

I wasn't thinking of getting an alarm system just yet, but the sales guy from Taylor Wimpey told me last weekend that the other site (David Wilson) had their new builds burgled, then I thought I better install and have an alarm system as soon as the house is handed over to me.

I just went onto checkatrade and identified local firms with nsi gold standard and had them quote. All were much the same, all quoted for a wireless system. I went for the one who seemed to give the most sensible advice about where to put the sensors and what to cover.

The reduction in insurance premium is almost exactly offset by the annual service charge, so it's more a peace of mind thing than money saving, and I have a niggly feeling that a dummy box would be just as effective as a deterrent.
