Halifax Bank Charges

I had a letter from my wonderful bank this morning to tell me they are charging me £39 for a 'failed item' if £11.37... I can't believe they are allowed to get away with this.
I called them and they refuse to reverse the charge as they reversed one last month (I moved house in June, sent all the forms off as advised by their website and they still sent letters to my old address!) as I didn't receive the letter about the charges!
Is there anything else I can do? I know I should have paid more attention to what was due to go out but I can't afford to pay £39!
Apparently, they charge you less if they make the payment for you!

You should have known what was going from your account and ensured the funds were available. Thats the only way to be sure you dont get charged. I find using a spreadsheet or something like microsoft money helps keep track of this.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0
