Anyone just watched money secrets?

Interesting. Given my presence on here it's ads to assume I'm a spender, but even I found the Lady on benefits close to eviction who turned her nose up at own brands more than a little perplexing! I love a home brand bargain. Also it wasn't like it was the value ranges she was moaning about, the supermarket finest ranges apparently weren't good enough either!

The really rich people who were v frugal were interesting too. I must begin to be more like them....

Isn't it amazing what a consumer orientated society we are, you can still be a snob, wether you have tons of money, or none at all.
Then you get Anne Robinson parading around in a wardrobe that would keep most people in kebabs for a few years, I find it all incredibly bizzare to be honest.

The gap between rich and poor is ever widening, I just wish I could find a job that payed 100k a year, I'd dance a !!!!ing jig lol

The guy whose wife earned 90k, while he earned 10k was annoying, more for his attitude than anything. He wants to send his kids into private education, but he doesn't want to give up his Starbucks/other expensive habits to help save up/help fund the fees. This was confirmed with his comment about the family on 25k spending money on their kid's after school activities - whilst 2.5k a year on kids extra curricular activities is a lot, he's happy spending thousands of pounds on Apple products for them! His kids may turn out to be spoiled, fat adults with technology addiction whilst the other kids will be fit and healthy and have a good grasp of reality.

The multi millionaire who started off with nothing when he was a kid was surprisingly likeable, ok so he has a Rolls Royce, he was very MSE about it - buying it for 2 thirds of the price! And buying most other things at a discounted rate.

I thought it was the usual BBC sensationalist tosh! Benefits claimants are baddies, people with good incomes with largely skewed priorities.

Precious few of the families featured even approximate the norm.
    Apparently makes good telly though!

    Bexster :)
  • I fell asleep while watching it. :o
Must catch up with it on iPlayer

Nothing on television ever comes near approximating the norm.

If 'the norm' in these programmes were selected, they wouldn't make interesting TV.

Even in Eastenders or Coronation Street - if the cast were like 'the norm' they would spend most of their time sitting watching TV, watching everybody watching TV.
"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock
  • Best part of the programme was Anne Robinson's face: talk about a face lift, more like a body drop.

Totally totally agree. I found it a fascinating programme. Really fancied going dumpster diving tonight but family have banned me! How will that exhausted woman feel when she watches what her snooker playing DH gets up to as she slaves all day from 5.30 for 14 hours? And how dare he comment on the other family who go without holidays etc for their childrens healthy activities. Well done them. Healthy happy balanced family. Sport and activities are much more use to them than moronically playing with expensive electric toys.
Loved the variety of the people and found the whole programme a light hearted look at us and our money.

    Looking forward to next week.
