Taylor Wimpey is taking the 'P' here!

Hi All
As always, I really need some advice here please...
I am currently buying a new build from Taylor Wimpey. The house is due to hand over to me in 4-5 weeks. I went back to the site to see the progress on Saturday and talked to the sales guy there about my kitchen.
What happens is, about 3-4 months ago, I told the sales guy that I would like a different brand of gas hob and cooker hood for the kitchen. So I asked him if I brought 'my appliances' in, whether his workmen could install them for me or not. At first, he said it shouldn't be a problem, then some weeks later I asked him (double check) about the gas hob and cooker hood again. This time he told me it was still OK but the workmen would keep the initial gas hob and cooker hood which come with the house. I thought, hold on for a sec, that was not right, I told the guy I wanted the initial appliances to be left behind with the house even they are not being installed in my house. He said he would make a note of that.
On Saturday when I saw him again, he told me it's time to bring my kitchen appliances in, he reckoned the workmen would install the gas hob and cooker hood this week. I asked him again about what will happen to the initial gas hob and cooker hood, he said he didn't know.
Now, I am not being funny here, if a gas hob and a cooker hood come with the house and I decided to replace them, what makes Taylor Wimpey think they can keep the appliances? Are these appliances not part of the deal for buying my house? Just because I want to replace the initial appliances, it doesn't mean Taylor Wimpey can keep them. It sounds like stealing to me.
So my question is, in such situation, how should I deal with Taylor Wimpey? (worth to mention - I agree to pay Taylor Wimpey the full asking price for the house, so they have already made the most profit out of my house!)
Sorry if my case is complicated to read and understand...
Many thanks!

Sounds like they are putting the cost of the Taylor Wimpey appliances against the cost of fitting your appliances.
What happens if there is something wrong after installation? Would TW blame the goods you supplied and the supplier/ manufacture blame the fitters?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. What are you going to do with a hob and cooker hood you don't want?0

That is a very good question. I would imagine the workmen from TW are qualified to install any gas hobs and cooker hoods, so if the appliances do stop working, I can only go back to the manufacturer.
In terms of something going wrong with the appliances, the scenario will be exactly the same even if I find someone to install the appliances. So it's just a matter of who installs the appliances.0 -
Just let them install their standard fit appliances then change them yourself at a later date. Saves all the hassle.0

I think that is probably what I will end up to do here. At the end of the day, TW needs to fit one in anyway, so I cannot work it out why it is so a big task to them.0 -

As long as you don't have stone worktops, which may mean some major adjustment to the worktop to get the cutout right for a change of hob.
Ovens are a five / ten minute job at worst, and one will fit in place of another without much fuss at all. (As long as they're both the same, standard width 600mm oven)0 -

I am only getting the standard wooden worktop. I checked their gas hob and mine, the hole that they need to cut on the worktop is only 1cm different in both width and length.0 -

So, they'll need a different template from their standard one, and might need minor alterations to supporting cupboards. 1 cm isn't nothing, when it comes to re-placing a hob. If theirs is the smaller size in all dimensions (and you are certain of that), just let them fit theirs, then have yours fitted for you at a later date.0
