Benefits and overtime

Hello,

I receive DLA (middle/lower) for Aspergers, ADHD, depression and anxiety. I work part-time, my contract is for 12 hours, but I usually do more than this with overtime. I also study part-time with the Open University.

My goal is to find full-time employment once I have completed my degree. However, I was thinking of moving out of my parents house before this and I was wondering if I would be entitled to any benefits that would allow me to survive on my own?

I was looking into ESA, Housing Benefit and Working Tax Credits, but I am unclear how overtime influences these. Thanks for your help.

If my contract is 12 hours but I work around 20 on average with overtime, could I claim tax credits? Or are they only based on contracted hours?

If you claim working tax credits, you can't claim ESA.
