Pet insurance from tesco

I am furious how Tesco have treated me! We have a 10 year old German Shepherd who has been insured with Tesco Pet Insurance since he was 8 weeks old. The premiums started at £11 per month. Over the years, despite only making a couple of claims for a few hundred pounds each, I received a renewal for £122 per month(last years was £60 per month, which I thought was already expensive, little did I know what was to come).
I have spoken to Customer Services who escalated my claim to two further 'managers', yet all had the same lame excuses of my dog being older and higher risk. Yes, I accept he is older, but only by one year, how on earth does that warrant my premium DOUBLING?
I have shopped at Tesco for years, and bought my petrol at Tesco for years.
NO MORE - I have cancelled my pet insurance policy, and will redirecting my hard earned money elsewhere in the future.
I would be better putting the £122 per month into a savings account in case my dog gets ill, and using that if needed.
I am going to be contacting the Ombudsman, The Chief Executive of Tesco, Watchdog, and Social Media. People need to know that pet insurance through Tesco is a SCAM - they start you on a low premium and then raise it over the years, and once they have you over a barrel with an older animal, they cut and run. SHAME ON YOU TESCO!!!!!

The law of unintended consequences.
Put your brand name to something as inconsequential as pet insurance and people buy it; then they expect you to to consider their "loyalty" in buying other things when it stops being the cheapest deal on the block.
Perhaps it's time for businesses to come clean on how they are "white labelling" other firms' products in return for a slice of the profits?
Julie, Tesco has eff all to do with the product you bought, other than as a means of revenue. You bought a product from an existing pet insurance supplier who piggy-backed the Tesco name so you'd think you were getting something special, or of value.I am a mortgage broker.
