Unexpected working tax credits payment

Hi can anyone help so I don't need to phone and be on hold for an hour.

I have received an unexpected £9 payment from working tax credit today, I usually get £53 per month but it is not due for payment until next Friday, I am confused

  • Probably an underpayment being corrected and if you are worried about it then keep the money to one side until you see the renewal notice come through.
  • thanks for your quick replies.
No changes to circumstances, auto renewal this year, my employer provided them with earnings details for last year.
Hoping its a final payment from last year or they have underpaid by £9 so far this year.

    thanks again

I got an extra payment last week too, got the letter yesterday; it's a shortfall/make up payment of last years' entitlement.
