he wants it for dvd and cd burning, etc - all things a teen does - and for storing his music and maybe playing games......
i think the first is the best but it doesnt mention anything about a cdrom on it - so dont know if it has one.....

First one has a DVD ReWriter MultiDrive so it fits the bill. Check Ebuyer it has a good range of Laptops at very competitive prices (normally lower than PC World)
As both are Vista you really need a minimum of 1GB memory of the two the first meets this but you could upgrade the Tosh but it will cost extra (see below this fits the bill).
Ebuyer has http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=0&action=YnVuZGxlX292ZXJ2aWV3&easycode=GN8RJ9842

im totally confused lol....so - to run windows vista you need at least 1gb memory yet they sell them with less? surely that is not legal lol......
as he is paying and is a stubborn 19yr old he wont listen to everything i say lol - i have managed to steer him towards these two as they are the best of the bunch but, he doesnt want to wait he wants it now - today - as they do.....he is going down to buy it later on so while he is in bed im trying to work out which is best of the two so i can steer him towards that one - he wont go round the houses of comparing and is totally headstrong and knows what he knows as teens do lol....
i think the first is the best but, it is the fact there is no mention of a cdrom on it - will he be able to still burn cds? can you use a dvd drive to do them?
thanks for all your help....
it needs to be from currys or pc world where you can reserve to collect from store - he has £400.....0 -

If he is that head strong, let him go and get whetever the Currys / PCWorld Salesperson dumps on him, it is the only way he will ever learn.;)0 -
believe me i did think of doing that inactive but, im too soft with my kids lol - they havent had it easy and he is a hard working teen even though he doesnt listen - he doesnt go out boozing, fighting, etc so im happy with them - he isnt rude just doesnt let you tell him
i hate the thought of pc world, etc getting one over on him and palming him off with junk
thanks anyway0 -
Back to original post the dvd writer will burn cd's and dvd's so both are ok for his needs. I repeat for Visa to run properly 1GB memory is deemed to be the minimum. By the time you read this the deed will no doubt have been done.
I always prefer to buy via the net or by phone call and have it delivered as you can then evoke the distance selling regulation and return the item if not 100% satisfied.

Vista WILL run on a 512MB RAM machine...or rather drag itslef along in the gutter.

thanks for all your help in helping my little pest lol0 -
Ive just got the toshiba equiem for £449. It has 2 gig of ram and everything I need except a slot for memory cards. Thats not a problem tho as Ive attached a usb card read which cost all of £4. I know its more expensive but with Vista its worth it. There is one for £399 which ism1 gig ram. My cousin has this one. If he is going to do gaming on it tho hes better off with the £449 one.
