Argos compensation issue

Hello just wondering if anyone would be able to advise me. I ordered a cooker from Argos 27/07/15 to be delivered 03/08/15 between 6-9pm basically to keep a very long story short it wasn't delivered and I had a further failed delivery. I ended up geting it delivered 11/08/15 8 days later. I was told that I would be reimbursed for my costs so I kept the order. I received a call today and they offered me £60 compensation I have not agreed to this I spent £136.71 on food for my family while we were without a cooked so with £60 compensation I would be out of pocket by £76.71. I only kept the order and did not cancel as I was told they would cover my costs and now that I have the product and it is used and I cannot return it they have gone back on this I am absolutely livid!!! Does anyone know what my rights are or know where I can go to take this further? TIA

How much would you have spent on food to cook using the cooker if it had arrived on time?

You seem to think they should cover the cost of all food bought elsewhere when they only owe you the difference between what you would have normally spent and what you did spend. You also need to be able to prove your actual losses which you don't seem to know at the moment.

You should be entitled to any out of pocket expenses due to them not delivering. But as already pointed out to you, what would you have spent on food if you did have the cooker? I would do your sums and go back to Argos asking for whatever £136.71 minus what you would have spent is.

Plenty of meals you can make without a cooker that cost no more than usual. Where do your additional expenses come from?

£17.08 per night give or take to feed a family for 8 nights, with all due respects, you would have been spending some of your own money to feed yourself WITH a cooker as well. I think you're barking mad if you're looking for the full cost of your "meals" & I think £60 is adequate compensation. Did you attempt to minimise your expenditure?

I merely ask that because this house of three adults won't hit £140 in food this week despite the fact that includes two of us going for a 2 course steak dinner at Hard Rock Cafe!

I do understand where you are coming from in that you thought that ALL costs would be covered but hate to say it I think that it is a fair offer.

Yes a small court claim but good luck winning here, Accept the amount and move on as you will waste time and effort here with getting no extra probably.

I also agree that £60 is a reasonable offer for 8 days without a cooker. As others have said you have food options that don't involve using a cooker and you cannot expect them to pay for food you would have had to buy even if you had a cooker. For example if you have cereal and milk for breakfast, cold salad/sandwich, fruit, juice for lunch then you can't expect them to pay for these, because they haven't delivered your cooker. If you wanted a hot evening meal and don't have a microwave, bbq, slow cooker then they have given you £7.50 per night towards a takeaway (you would have had to buy food for cooking a hot meal even if you had a cooker).

I think it's quite easy to spend £140 or more in a week on food especially if you include a night out.
