MSE give alternative suppliers that are cheaper but most of them have got problems or big minus points which would be just as much a problem as paying over the odds

I ve had absolutely no probs with Sainsburys Energy, they ve even just lowered my direct debits without me even begging. They are of course BG in disguise but their tariffs were up there ( S.Yorks area ) with the likes of First Utility, Extra Energy, GB Energy etc.Ifiwere... wrote: »MSE give alternative suppliers that are cheaper but most of them have got problems or big minus points which would be just as much a problem as paying over the odds0 -

All depends if you are a lert or not .
As all the comparison sites are basically the same i guess you are not .
Suggestion go with the most expensive tariff with the best customer reviews .0 -
First Utility come SECOND ! in the list ( quite small list of 8 ) in customer satisfaction which I find incredible. And OVO top with Uswitch bragging that "its official , OVO are the UKs best supplier )Uswitch do a comprehensive review of suppliers each year. Latest results are here:

Why do I have the feeling that Uswitch are a bit bent !0 -

These tables need to be taken with a large pinch of salt. 'Which' also does a similar comparison: note the differences.

It all comes down to the size of the sample and the type of questions asked. Think back to the recent pre-Election polls.
FWiW, I tend to look at complaints data on the basis that if everything was as it should be then there would be no need for anyone to complain.

It is also worth noting that things change very quickly in the energy sector. For example, in 2015Q1, Ovo received 1217 complaints/100K customers (5543 complaints in total): 7% of all complaints related to transfers. In Q2/2015, Ovo received 1153 complaints/100k customers (total 5315 complaints) but 21% of these complaints related to supply transfer issues. It follows that there is good news in the figures for existing Ovo customers but not so good for those who might be thinking of switching in. ( I chose Ovo as their website gives more detail on complaints than that of an other energy supplier. They are to be applauded for that.)This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
