Entrants need to create a video of not more than ninety (90) seconds featuring created digital narrative content, inspired by at least one cue point, and describing a story of how the Doctor has ended up facing the Daleks again, leading into the opening episode of Series 9.
Entrants are encouraged to create their story using a wide-ranging variety of media – filming and editing original content; creating digital images; animation; storyboarding; clip and image mash-ups (provided they use content cleared and provided by the BBC); or any other digital creative form. Entries that parody the Doctor Who series or the Daleks will not be accepted.
Entries will be submitted via a link to where the video is posted, on any social media platform or hosting service, e-mailed to missionDALEK@bbc.co.uk with the subject line MISSION DALEK COMPETITION.
The judges shall use the following criteria:
• Storytelling. How well is the story told? How inventive is the narrative?
• Digital Creativity. How strong and accomplished are the design elements of the piece?
• Technical aptitude. How accomplished is the piece technically, using digital forms? E.g. How well shot/ edited is it, how well animated is it?
The Prize consists of a set visit to visit to the Doctor Who set in Cardiff, and a chance to meet Peter Capaldi, the actor playing the Doctor. There will be 5 winners, and each will be able to bring 3 guests. If the winner is under 18, one of the guests must be a responsible adult. The date and location of the visit have been agreed with the production as BBC Cymru Wales, Roath Lock Studios on Thursday 24th September 2015, and any requirements for allowances for children participating in television recordings will be considered. The BBC will pay reasonable travel costs for winners, travelling within the UK. For the avoidance of doubt, the prize does not include accommodation costs or any other expenses. Winners must be available to make use of this prize at the time dictated by the Production - Thursday 24th September 2015.
