permitted development , structural engineer - please advice

Hello,

I am in Crawley - South East.

I was wondering if i was quoted a lot for the following work?
(loft conversion plans)

The rest charged by hour.
Would you be able to recommend anyone in the area?

Should i use online services where i would have to draw the loft myself - this is much less expensive.

Any advice would help.

I can't comment on most of the above, but I did pay about £1100 including VAT to an architect for drawing and getting through planning permission. 2 extensions and internal work on 3 bed house in Norwich.

Two steel beams to replace load bearing walls cost me £255 + VAT for the calculations. I'm told that's a good price.
