Student loans deferment pre 1998?

I feel I am being treated really badly regarding the administration of my student loan. I took out a student loan back in 1991. I've always kept in touch with the student loans company. I have never had any problems requesting deferment. I always provide the correct documentation as soon as it is requested.
I recently received my annual request from the student loans company for proof of income. I promptly gathered all the documentation required and sent it royal mail special delivery in the envelope the Student Loans Company Limited provided. I sent this on the 8/08/20015. I then received a letter today 18/08/2015, dated 12/08/2015 telling me that i needed to send the information I'd already sent them.
So the next thing I did was phone them up on the number provided in the deferment incomplete letter they sent me. I was asked for lots of personal details, which I gave to aid a dialogue regarding getting this error sorted out. Well the bloke I spoke to basically wouldn't help and told me that they were not the student loan company, thought it was a laugh and the second time I phoned had left his phone open so I could hear his discussion about needing a whisky, but he hadn't actually answered the phone to speak to me. So I'm getting letters regarding deferment of my student loan on headed note paper from the SLC with a number to phone. When i asked to speak to a supervisor she practically advised I shouldn't be using this number as I was with the student loans company!
Some research on the internet shows that my loan has been sold to a company called Erudio Student Loans. Yet I'm still receiving SLC headed note paper with a number which is not for the student loans apparently. I think the whole thing is a scam to prevent you from being allowed deferment and I'm sure it's not legally sound:mad:. This Erudio do not answer the phone with any identification about who they are, yet you are not allowed to talk to anybody until you have divulged all your personal information. So basically I'm caught up between the SLC and Erudio and being treated like a defaulting debtor.
I'm writing this on here as I'm sure I won't be the first or last to be treated without fair and legal respect by the SLC and Erudio. I have had no information to say my loan has been transferred to Erudio and continue to get the correspondence on SLC headed note paper yet they are using a telephone number for a company that doesn't even tell you who they are. All they said was- we are not the Student loans Company.

So what exactly is the issue?
You had a loan 24 years ago and are still not being asked to pay anything?0 -
Thanks for reply but i am being asked to repay, despite sending in deferment forms with all information. Also, the letters they send me are an address with Student Loans Company, but my statements are sent from Honours student loans, but telephone number on letters is for Erudio. So who am i meant to deal with?:mad:0

Rather than using numbers on a possibly dubious letter, why don't you look up enquiry numbers for SLC and Erudio (both took me seconds to find) and call them on those numbers?0

Thanks for reply. I've tried SLC numbers and Honours student loans. The Student loans company write to me on headed note paper but they are no longer holding the account so I have to deal with Honours student loans who give out a number, 0333 003 7257 but won't help me as they say they are not the student loan company who I should be dealing with. Both are saying the other is administering my account. In the meantime I have the letter from SLC saying deferment incomplete. Yet I have to phone up Honours student Loans according to the letter.
I'm going to the FCA as the admin of my student loan seems to have been completely messed up. I have loads of documentary evidence to prove their incompetence and am going to request the original loan terms and all the ways that interest was worked out from day one. Seems that Mark Cassidy at SLC sends out letters without knowing what they contain.0 -
Good luck with the FCA:
"We do not investigate individual complaints."

Does it matter?
I assume you are in your 40s now, and have deferred for this long.
Do you see this changing?0 -
I have repaid some in the past and there is still some left to pay, but my current income is such that I am below the threshold. As I have sent them the correct information, why are they saying it is incomplete? I suggest it is because they have sold off my loan and don't know who is dealing with the admin and hope to make it too late to defer my loan before they try and take money.0

I finally have a letter accepting my deferment for my student loan repayments.:T:j:money:0
