Im late! December 6th and I haven’t done the side hustle totals! I blame a food hangover from Christmas.

Airbnb: £91 – The winter lull has well and truly kicked in with only 3 nights being booked in. Got a few more in January but im longing for a return of the sun and therefore tourists!

Adsense from Youtube: £52.20. Pretty much the same as November. We got a couple of gadgets for Christmas that I can review in the coming weeks so that’s great.

    Amazon Affiliates from Youtube: £18.25
. Highlights of peoples purchases after clicking my link this month include, Mouse mats, LED bulbs and a mop!

    Solar Panels: £11.22
. It gets worse! In theory we could start getting better from here as we have seen the shortest day although I’m sure terrible weather will continue to cloud the skies.

Matched Betting: £0 A super busy month coupled with my BET365 account getting hacked and locked for a week has caused this. Apparently the hacker was using my account to pass money to someone else via poker tables!

Thats a grand total of £172.67 earned outside of work in December. It’s getting worse, but still a good amount considering its outside of our normal salaries. Until next month side hustlers!

Bad news! MissWillow's lift share will be no more come January 25th.

Her commute is a 60 mile round trip and currently she only has to do it every other day so this is going to double our fuel costs unless we can find somebody else. This also means double the miles on the car, double brake / tyre wear, etc!

Unfortunately its quite a unique route and finding someone that works in a similar place for similar hours seems unlikely.

There could be other knock on effects too... Currently I get a lift 4 days a week on average (sometimes 5, sometimes only 2), and then plan MissW's lift sharing so I can use our car on the days I cant get a lift. It might mean we need to get what I have come to treat as a naughty word, a second car!

    EEEK!!

  • So the "lift share" no more - has quite a knock on effect for quite a few decisions.

Although you may just find another "car sharer" - even though its quite a unique route. Stranger things have happened.:)

Wishing you all the best in finding one.

    Second car purchased :-(

Its quite a cool one though and I think we got a good deal. Its a red VW up! Nice and dinky so it doesnt take up much space on our drive and (hopefully) nice and cheap to run.

It shouldn't change our MF target of April 2017 though as were starting to look like it might be more like february or march :-) We were always going to need a second car eventually and I think we did pretty well living together for 5+ years with only one :-)

  • HI Jimlad, I have been following you and miss willow silently for a while now. You are both doing amazingly well.

A VW up does sound like cool. How is it for space?
Like you we have only 1 car and in recent months have been looking into a second car to help with child drop-offs etc. My boss at work can't believe we are a "1 car family" lol

    Good luck with your goal!!

Oh cool! It makes me warm and fuzzy inside knowing that people read this thread :D

The up is great for space in the front at least. I am 6ft 4 with very long legs for my height and i dont even need the chair all the way back to drive. Loads of room! No chance of an adult sitting behind me though. If its only ever going to be young children in the back it would be fine I think, teenagers would struggle.

I guess the best thing to do is to drop into a garage and have a sit in one? Skoda Citigo's and Seat Mii's are identical cars with identical engines made in the same factories. You are just paying a bit more with VW for a slightly nicer interior.

Amazing work remaining a 1 car family with kids. Thats a great acheivement. DO you both work?
