Hi,
I purchased a new flatscreen monitor to add a second screen to my laptop for the occasions when I need two at home. It is installed as "extended desktop" and seems fine ...but apart from the Windows MCE screen logo it's blank.
When I open a program on the laptop it stays on the laptop screen - my question is:
How do I tell the computer to open the programs on the monitor screen on the occasions I want that to happen, whilst still keeping them on the laptop desktop for the times i am only using the laptop without the monitor?
Idiot proof instructions would be much appreciated if anyone can help
Thanks,

Open the programme as normal (it will open on the laptop screen) then drag the window you are working in onto the extended desktop (2nd monitor) - you can then maximise it there and work away at will...0

Thanks Wilco but is there no way to open the programs directly onto the monitor screen without having to drag each time?
Also, I use a program which can open multiple charts on one screen so where the laptop screen looks squashed with 6 charts, I can open 8 or 9 on the monitor and all looks ok- but of course when I revert back to the laptop only, I have to delete the extra's
It's a real pain..especially as being able to have the extra charts open was the reason for buying the second monitor in the first place:rolleyes: Similarly, I can have two sets of the 6 charts up on the monitor but again have to resize and reconfig the program when I go back to using them individually on laptop screen only.
Kind of hard to explain but I hope u get the gist.

I am not really sure what you are doing and I am only going on how my 2 screen set up works but I know that when I drag a window to the second monitor, close the window/programme, and then re-open it remembers to open on the second screen however if you are sometimes using one 1 screen and sometimes 2 screens you are always gonna be changing this.
I am not sure if you can 'tell' a programme or window to open on a specific monitor when you start the programme up... Have you checked the graphic settings because you can tell the 2nd monitor to act in different ways...0 -

Yes, I think the problem is because I use two screens at home but obviously only the laptop when travelling. I have found the following though which I will try out on the free trial - might help solve some issues.0
