underwriter delay

We sold our house and moved out on 7th August. Our mortgage has gone to the underwriter as the property we've bought is in an old mining area. All the coal authority reports and surveys are done but still do not have a date of entry. We're now technically homeless living with my sister with our things in storage and my son starts school tomorrow. I really don't know what to do:(

Not sure what advice you expect...
Clearly moving out was premature. Most sensible link their sale and purchase so that ..... they don't end up homeless.
What is the current cause of the delay in your purchase - you don't say so perhaps you don't know. Find out!0 -
That's just it, we've only been told that the mortgage has gone to the underwriters and been told no more. I have contacted the Halifax and they can't seem to tell me any more. I moved out as I didn't think there was going to be a delay and didn't want to mess our purchaser around especially as we had a property ready to move into or so we thought. This is the first time we've bought and sold so were perhaps rather naïve. have now raised a complaint as the lack of communication is very worrying if nothing else0

When did you apply for the mortgage?
Has everything else been done?
When did the mining report go to the lender, as it will need to be signed-off, probably by a surveyor?I am a mortgage broker. Two months to review a mining report?
For heaven's sake why?
I assume you've done this direct and not via a broker?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
