TV over radiator dilemma?

Hi all,
We would like to replace the tall, thin radiator in our bedroom (which is going rusty) with a new, lower & wider one - say about hip height, and then mount a TV on a multi-directional bracket above the radiator higher up the wall.
What are the implications of rising heat near the TV itself, and can we avert any danger by placing a chunky wooden shelf for example between the two?
Also would a shelf or any other object, affect the heating ability of the radiator for the room in any way?
Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

What kind of TV is it - what size, and how far up from the radiator is it being fitted?
If it's a new TV of any size, it'll be fine, they produce much less heat than they used to, which is part of why they use less energy.
So unless it's a big old plasma right on top of the radiator 'it should be fine'. No warranty implied!0 -

It's a 37" Sony LCD - 5/6 years old and I'd guess it would be fitted about 2-3ft about the radiator and (subsequently) with a floating wooden shelf in between.0 -
That shelf will help so get it in as soon as you can (before winter!) - sounds fine to me though. Maybe have a feel around the TV now, after it's been on for an hour or so, to guage how warm it gets, to compare to your new installation.0

Our LCD is sat on a tv stand right in front of a large radiator which gives out quite a bit of heat and has been like this for a few years. As above, I dont think any modern LCD/LED will have problems being mounted above radiator0
