Is this misleading?

If you saw this advert:-
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Raised-Wooden-KOI-Carp-Fish-POND-5-ft-x-3-ft-Chunky-Deck-LINED-FULLY-BUILT-/221753227446?var=&clk_rvr_id=886415362728&rmvSB=true

would you expect the description matched the quoted price?

if so, you would be wrong. It turns out the price is £430.

Not really - it's obvious there is a drop-down to select the size required.

That said their returns policy is illegal as it tries to prevent returns under the CCRs

But to describe both item and price in the same sentence?

    Title is:
Raised Wooden KOI Carp Fish POND 5 ft x 3 ft Chunky Deck LINED & FULLY BUILT

I would expect all options to be variations based on a size of "5 ft x 3 ft".

Therefore, to me, the title is misleading.

The price is not in the same sentence - you have to use the drop down list to find it. It's not misleading, it is the way eBay offers items with multiple options.

    Yes, it is misleading.

It's a result of sloppy and incompetent programming that is, considering it is a fairly fundamental part of fleabay's primary function, quite staggeringly poor.

Any first term student should be taught that you do NOT display a result dependent on the selection in a list that has not yet been made.

It should either display "Please select size first" in the price field or it should pre-select some size (and display the correct size for that).

Of course, the fact that the seller has placed a particular size in the item heading that does not match the ebay selected default is their fault.

Only a complete idiot would say that what appears on the initial view of the page is not misleading (and we have a few of those here).

However, there is no way you could actually buy the item without seeing the correct price displayed, so it is an annoyance rather than a potential piece of misselling.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.
