It was only a pound, but...................

More frustrated than Vent Praise or Anger.
Throughout the summer, a well known fast food chain has been actively selling £1 raffle tickets from table to table.
Initially the seller didn't know when the draw would take place, but eventually found out and I bought a ticket.
A week after the draw was due to take place, I returned and looked for a notice with details about the winning number. Because I couldn't find a notice I asked, in fact three people. The third person I asked, approached the manager who turned round, looked at me and shook their head. I was told mine wasn't the winning number.
I could forget all this, especially as it was only one pound. But wouldn't it be easy to position a notice saying:-
*How many tickets were sold.
*How much was made. (after expenses)
*Where the proceeds went.
*Number of winning ticket
*Name/address of winner (for verification)
Many of those being sold tickets, were clearly holiday makers as our's is a seaside town. You could quite easily have been one of the purchasers.
I have as yet had no reply from their Head Office.

Would not the seller have the winners on their web site(assuming they have one)?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

They have a website alright and a world-wide constant advert. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi,
were they actual printed tickets?
If so they should have the details of the draw, prizes and registered charity, or, were they cloakroom type tickets, with no detail?0 -

sorry, maybe I should have said, they were cloakroom type tickets. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We're they holding their own raffle or just selling tickets on behalf of another party? If it was another party they probably won't have all of the details you want.
As they were cloakroom style tickets I can understand them not wanting to publish the winning number, anyone could buy an identical book and use the same number to claim a prize (some books have serial numbers on tickets but others don't).
Also with the name and address of the winner being published, I certainly wouldn't be happy if I won a prize then had my details published for anyone to see. Why do you need their address for verification? Do you plan on writing to them or visiting them to check they got their prize?0 -
Would it make you feel better to know that my son won the raffle at his local McDonalds? He won an inflatable paddling pool0

you could contact your local council who have to licence all raffles/tombola's etc
the company should have to give them a breakdown of how much was raised and how much was spent on purchasing prizes etc
I suspect the company may not have registered with the local council..............I would ask them and then "mention" it to the branch- it is VERY poor practice to NOT pin up a poster with the winning ticket numbers and how much was raised for the charity/cause concerned and I do think this should be pointed out to the manager0
