Hi,
I was with EDF for one year but have changed suppliers about 4-5 months ago. Very happy with new supplier & don't want to go back to EDF.
Since I left, EDF have called me three times and sent me 2 letters, trying to convince me to come back to them.
I keep telling them they're wasting their time but they won't listen.
Is there some kind of law I can refer to, to INSIST that they don't call me ever again, and also not send me ANY more mail?
Thank you!

If they won't stop contacting you threaten them with the ICO. That sometimes works. If they still contact you then file a complaint with the ICO - you can do it online and it's straightforward. The ICO will then write to EDF reminding them of their obligations. That should do it.
Moral of the story: NEVER give out your phone number to utility suppliers, financial organisations, insurance companies and all the rest. If they insist on it (e.g. mandatory field in website) then enter a bogus number.0 -
The best thing to do is call Customer Services on 0800 096 9000 and ask to opt out of marketing communications by all methods.0

Have you actually asked the supplier to cease and desist contacting you for marketing purposes? If so, have you stated which communication mediums may not be used for such purposes? Until you do, then they will probably continue to do so. (although that may depend on what you agreed to when you were their customer)
Yes there are laws to protect consumers from unsolicited marketing.0 -
I was outside putting my paper recycling bin to the kerb when the postie appeared with a handful of junk mail.
Is it all junk I asked, no letters?
All junk he said, so I opened the lid and said put them in here.
Problem solved, though sometimes the junk mail ends up in the house.
It still goes in the same place though.
Not worth getting your knickers in a twist over it.
As for phone calls, either waste their time or hang up.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
@GingerBob
Thanks for that. ICO is what I was looking for.
@sacsquacco
I'm not being precious. "Letters and a few calls which will natuarally dry up anyway". Will they? Maybe in 10 years time? I've asked them 3 times to not contact me again, but they won't listen.
It's my choice to keep my letterbox clean. It's your choice not to. Easy. BTW: Life's too short to write replies to forum-posts that don't answer the initial question.0
