I am currently with First Direct and am considering moving to get the benefits and cash.
My one question is what is their telephone banking service like? I don't expect one like First Direct but I don't want to be waiting for hours or going through lots of number activated menus.
Can anyone give any insight?

you get through to the advance team after maxmum two layers of menus in my experience. they're based in UK, too!0

Do you have to enter any account numbers in or security which is then asked again by the representative or is it just to direct you to the right team?0

If you enter your sort code, acccount number, date of birth and then two random digits from your telephone security number, you will be fully verified when you speak to an agent. They'll just ask you what your query is and look to resolve that for you.
Provided you know all your information and don't accidentally press the wrong key, you can get through in a few minutes. I've never had a problems and I've been banking with them for a year and a half now.
If you have their normal account then the call centres are abroad. If you're Advance or Premeier then you'll get through to a UK centre.
Hope that helps!0 -
Telephone banking - Not as slick as First Direct, not as bad as nails on a chalkboard.
Process:
1) Call the number
2) Key in your sort code and account number
3) Key in your date of birth
4) Key in 2 digits from your telephone security number
5) Listen to the menu options
Quick tip - Skip number 5 - Just press 4, then 4 again. That takes you through to a human
Or maybe it's 6 then 6...!!!!!!ed if I can remember.0
