in Credit cards
Hey all,
I'm thinking of getting a credit card just to start up my credit history. I will use it very occasionally to be honest and will always pay the full amount of the bill as soon as i get it - so really i'm just getting one for the credit record.
Thus, % on balance transfers etc. doesn't really matter to me and i'm just looking for one that would have good freebies and a good return on quidco, rpoints etc. So i'm thinking the Egg card here you get £35 on quidco - what do you all think...?

I've had an Egg card for years now, and have never had a problem with them, just finished paying off my loan with them too, and they've always been pretty good to deal with.
The best experience I've had in terms of helpfulness of customer service etc has been with Alliance and Leicester, but I certainly wouldn't advise against Egg I just prefer A&L now!I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true:T September Challenge £5 per day - £0/£150 :T0 -

If you are thinking of getting any old card then I would suggest that a little research is required into the cards available .If you are going to occasionally use the card and pay the bill as soon as it arrives then you may want to have a look at stoozing as this will make you more than quidco etc.
All the main banks have starter cards that have offers like AA lessons so you may prefer one over the other.
Just go to their web pages to view what is currently on offer.Previously known as Bokken, registered at MSE in Nov 04,computer glich deleted my access but it is fun building up my stars from scratch,again.:D0 -
I was in the same situation and went for an "Egg Money" credit card, and get cashback on all my purchases too.0

Looked at Lloyds, Alliance and Leicester, American Express, Goldfish and a few others and they don't really seem to have anything good so think i'm gonna go with the Egg card.
One last question - if they reject you then does that harm your credit file?0
