Recommended Kitchen Retailers

Hey guys.

First time poster but long time lurker.

We have just purchased a new house which requires a new kitchen. We were extremely excited about the prospect of looking for a new kitchen but after a day of looking around and reading all the threads on MSE we are even more confused then when we started!

So many horror stories about retailers/pushy sales people/fitters.

We are looking for a mid-range kitchen.
-Gloss White/Cream
-Curved if possible.
-12 Units? (This will need to be confirmed during measurements etc)
-Fairly large sink
-Granite/Quartz top (Not laminate)
[Sorry for the poor description!]

We have been to the following kitchen retailers:

1. Betta Living (Nice kitchens..but put off by the fact they don't advertise prices and can pretty much make stuff up on the day and you need to haggle etc).

2. Ikea (Limited choices but seems reasonably priced. Love the guarantee).

3. Magnet (Nice designs. Having seen the estimated prices using their online website it is rather steep!)

4. John Lewis (Looked at their website. Some nice designs. Their reputation is drawing us towards them..but not sure what the final price will be).

Now my dilemma is who is the 'best' / provides the best 'value'?

Shall we go for a German kitchen (Leicht/Hacker/Schuller/Bauformat)? If so which manufacturer is 'best' / provides the best 'value'? and is there anyone in North London/Hertfordshire/Essex that sells German kitchens that you recommend?

Sorry for the long post!

I really look forward to reading your comments.

I'd go for a local company rather than one of the big firms. It's not easy, I know, to find out which local company is best and the only way to do it is to be nosey. Ask your friends and neighbours who fitted theirs and whether they were any good.

Don't be afraid to ask people, even if you hardly know them. People usually love to give advice.

Where exactly are you in north London/Essex/Hertfordshire? I may be able to make you a recommendation. I have a Magnet kitchen but arranged through a tradesperson and Magnet Trade.
