Normally you would get a response within a week.

  • I will have to find a number to ring them then I have left it till now because I thought it might take them longer to gather any info

The gathering of info can be weeks to months even years. However, the acknowledgement is within the week.

Why do you think you had PPI in 1987? It was a far from common form of insurance in those days.

Maybe the poster has a document which shows they paid PPI in 1987. It's not that unusual.

My partner has bank statements which show a loan from 1988 with a single PPI charge listed next to the amount borrowed.

To answer the original question. You should have received an acknowledgement from Lloyds/TSB by now, phone their PPI helpline for an update.

One small piece of advice, if the bank cannot locate payment details, you might need to find some evidence from your own archive. Best of luck.
  • They have eight weeks to resolve your complaint, but a holding / acknowledgement letter is normally after about a week.
