Advice Needed re: Easy Jet

wonder if anyone in the know can advise.

My neighbour flew to Barcelona last night with Easy Jet. Unfortunatly her bag was stolen at the hotel with her passports in (her her hubby and daughter)
The hotel have told her that Easy jet will accept a police report instead of the passport as they are flying back out. They have been to the consulate and its 84 euros each to replace so they would prefer to sort when they get back.

Just wondered if any of you were in the know about this type of situation and if Easy Jet really will accept a police report

What a nightmare!

It is not up to Easyjet as to what type of ID is acceptable, your friend really needs to contact the relevant airport authorities.

Are they insured?

They just need a local police report to say their passports were stolen to leave spain- but ideally they could be met by a uk citizen with id on arrival. travel inurance should pay for new passports in the future

I had my U.S. passport stollen while in vegas a couple of years ago. I reported it to the police, obtained a report, contacted Virgin who told me to come to the airport earlly, they phoned emigration in London who accepted that I was entitled to enter the U.K. purley based on the fact that I had obtained a police report. Best bet is to contact Easyjet and ask them what you should do

When my husband and I travel we take photocopies of the relevant pages of our passports with us and keep them separate from the actual passports.

Replacement costs for passports are usually covered by travel insurance. Get receipts for the costs of the replacement passports, plus any travel expenses and get them to check the policy when they get back - my fairly bog standard policy covers up to £250.
