Failed windows 10 install

so after 3 hours of windows 7 to 10 upgrading i finally get a message that it 'failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with a n error during BOOT operation'
code given is 0xC1900101 - 0x40017
if it matters its an acer aspire 5536. any ideas please?

Uninstall your Anitvirus first, old issue with W8>W8.1 upgrade that generates the same error code:

that might be the case as i read on your link that it affected avast anti virus which is what i run.
so will try the update again after uninstalling avast.
does this mean it has to go thru the whole 3 hour + cycle again from the begining?
