Moving home

I moved home on 4th July 07, and requested that I retain my existing phone number, as I am still within the same STD area and BT exchange. I have spent without exgeration since then at least 8 hours on the phone to BT, have sent 4 emails to them a letter to their customer care department all to no avail, it would appear that they are answerabl;e to no one and do not care abouth such issues. Do you have any suggestions where I may go to have this simple taks completed.
