does anyone have any ideas? Please help!

I'm not sure if this is in the right place but this is my first time posting on here....

My husband and I were this week given 2 months notice to leave our privately rented house as the owners are intending to sell up. This has come at totally the wrong time as we have a 4 year old, 8 month old, and I am 7 months pregnant with our 3rd.
I am not working at the moment, I am on unpaid maternity leave, my husband works, and we receive child tax credit and working families tax credit. We are desperately short of money at the moment, and simply cannot afford a new deposit on a house. We have tried to get an overdraft, and bank loan but both were a no go.

Does anyone know of any grants or loans which are available to help us with a deposit for a new house?

we have applied to the housing associations, but due to the short time scale, they have said its not promising.

Please help!!

    Hi aligerdie,

    Welcome to MSE!

Will you not get your deposit back from your current landlord?

Failing that, do you have friends or family that may be able to help you out?

Does your LHA have a landlords deposits scheme?

Hope you get something sorted x

Thank you! Been lurking on here for a while now, and this site is great!

We would get our deposit back, however, only after we've moved out, so I wouldn't bank on it being within the first month. We've asked about, and I don't think borrowing the money from anyone is going to happen (everyones skint!)

Could you explain what a landlords deposit scheme is? Never heard of it...

And thank you for replying so quickly, its appreciated!

Here is the info that you need ...

    http://england.shelter.org.uk/advice/advice-3004.cfm

The only issue with this is that you will have to find a property that will accept accept tenants 'on benefits' x

As you have children, the local council have a legal obligation to provide a roof over your head.

Take your eviction letter to the council housing office, and they should place you on their list as an "urgent priority".

if you have any problems, then SHELTER should be able to assist you with this.
