CITB help desperately needed

Hi all,
This morning I have received a claim form for court from CITB????
I called CITB a few months ago as I had no clue who they were and they told me I had to send them levy returns, which I did and the man on the phone was really helpful and helped me fill the levy return in. He said we wouldn't owe anything with us being a small business.
Can anyone tell me what I have to do as I am so worried at the moment. They have put a claim form in for just over £6500!!!!
Please can anyone help, I am so worried and I just don't know what to do.
Many thanks in advance

What contract do you have with them, what have you signed.
I trust they are billing you for some service so you should have had some form of a contract.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

Which year are they claiming the levy for?
What were your eligible payments that year?
Do you have any rights to claim a grant?0 -

CITB is a statutory body. They are authorised to raise a levy.0 -
Done some digging and CITB are one of those leach set-ups that milk construction firms dry.
You are supposed to pay this forced tax apparently to keep unemployable layabouts in the training industry in a life of luxury whilst construction workers sweat their nuts off working.
If your wage bill is over 80K you have to pay these hangers on their tax.
If your wage bill is over 80K you should have an accountant who should have pick this up.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
We haven't signed anything to my knowledge, which is very little.
It says the following,
The claim is for payment of industrial training levy assessed in accordance with the provisions of the revelation industrial training levy (CITB) order. A level assessment notice is in respect of each year for which levy remains outstanding has been served on the defendant and the claimants claim.
1. 6183.00
2. Statutory ingested the pursuant to section 69 of the county cour act (1984) at a rate of 8.000% per annum from 28/03/2014 to 12/08/2015 387.28, and thereafter at a daily rate of 1.36 to date of judgement or sooner payment.
Invoice dates 28/02/2014 to 15/04/2015 28/02/2015
The claimant claims interest under section 69 of county courts act 1984 at a rate of 8% per annum from 28/03/2014 to 12/08/2015 on 6183.00 and also interest at the same rate up to date of judgement or earlier payment at a daily rate of 1.36.
That is what the letter says, I have absolutely no clue what this amount is for, I am sorry I am so vague, just so so confused.
We had a terrible accountant who I asked about these and they told me to call CITB which is what I did as previous Levy returns former went to an old address, I thought that all companies had to fill in the forms?0 -

Is your total wage bill less than £79,999.
Total as in ALL and Every wage paid by your firm.
PS, you need to sack that accountant immediately for gross incompetence .I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

we have sacked our accountant lol.
How would I know if we signed up, I remember getting a bill from them and I called the bill was for 3000, they told me the bill was an estimate as no levy was returned, that's when I told him the amounts earned and he said we would owe noting.
Feeling a little bit less worries and sick now. Will call them Monday. Thank you for the replies. And sorry for being so thick, just don't understand any of this0 -

The "wage bill" is what has been paid in wages (gross) to employees or to labour-only subcontractors.
I don't think you will be able to do much to sort this out before Monday other than to ensure you have your figures worked out.
Do you have the form that should be completed?
Have you actually registered with the CITB or have they simply caught up with your work in the industry?0 -
How would we know if we signed up to CITB? I thought it was not an option but to return the levys0
