"If indeed they really have" - can you explain? The payment was taken early, the agreement is to take the following working day when the payment date is a non-working day, not the previous one. Where does the doubt come from?
Is that actually what it says in the NUFC T&Cs? You don't seem to have ever directly answered the question YorkshireBoy asked in post #8.0 -
I did leave the payment as it is, as I mentioned above I asked why it had been taken early.
That's pretty unusual if many of the posts on here are anything to go by. Generally people seem to be fobbed off by their banks and told to speak to the DD originator themselves.0 -

By 'leaving the payment as is', I meant you shouldn't have written a letter to the bank, which resulted a refund of the payment that had been taken on a Friday instead of on a Monday, and that had caused you no financial problems.
You created an entirely unnecessary complexity, incl. extra work for someone in the bank. It may well still turn into a mess as NUFC might tell the bank that the payment was justified, and take it again. Or they might cancel the DD.
None of that will have ensured that NUFC won't in future take payments on a Friday if the 1st is a Saturday. Although, as already mentioned, it seems very unusual that DD payments are taken a day early. Don't suppose your bank is Natwest?0 -

What I could have or should have done is irellevant, I did what I did and was clear on that in the OP. The question I posed was answered in the first few replies and I thank the posters for that.
I suffered no financial pain but that doesn't mean I shouldn't complain, an error was made and I highlighted it. If I have to make a card payment to NUFC then I will do, if they make it more complex then so be it, maybe it'll help them iron out the issue and provide redress to those who did suffer financially - I know from speaking to those around me at last weeks game that those on the DD scheme also had payments taken early.
It's unusual as it was a mistake, which, as I say, the club have said was a human error.

Yes indeed the OP could find his season ticket cancelled due to jumping the gun.
What a relief for him judging the start to the season they have had.

Many (most?) will say "on the 1st of the month or the next working day".
Some may say "if the 1st is a non-working day then payment will be taken on the previous working day".
So what was your agreement/arrangement with NUFC?
Under the terms of the DD scheme, collection must be made either on the collection day specified or within 3 working days after said date.
It may not be collected before specified date.
A conditional collection date, such as that you propose, is not acceptable either.0
