Quick question, Powergen and an obviously wrong bill (£12,000 wrong)
Hi
A friend was round earlier and she's received a demand from Powergen for £12,000 for gas/electric for a house she sold a few weeks ago (she had not lived in it for a while, but had been paying the very small bills).
Obviously the bill is incorrect by a fairly huge margin*, but she's a bit worried as apparently it makes all the normal threats "if you don't pay it will go to court" etc.
Who does she complain to to get it sorted, apparently she called billing who were rather useless "computer says it's right...", is there a specific department she can call and send copies of her previous bills etc to?
*Unless she was heating the local swimming pool

If she has only been paying "very small bills" i.e. not enough to cover the usage, they are entitled to be paid for the energy consumed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

aye, she's been paying the bill in full, the "small bit" is because she's only been billed for a small amount of usage (which would tie in with the fact the house has been empty, so only things like clocks and the odd light bulb being in use when the house has been checked
).
From what she's said the bills were correct until the last one after she moved out, which is out by about £12,000.
So it's
fairly obviously a mistake0 -
Get her to send an email to directorofcustomerservice@powergen.co.uk and it should be sorted out in a few days.0

Thanks Stewie
I actually got a bit more info, apparently after she moved she did actually get a (small) refund on her final bill from when she still owned the house, the £12k+ bill came a few weeks later (so it's even more obviously a rather large mistake;)).
I'll pass the information along tommorow.0
