sony Mp3 / netgear wireless compatibilty problems

Can someone help sort out a litlle problem.

i have a sony nw-e002 mp3 player and a netgear WPN111 router - everytime i plug the mp3 player into the pc, the next time i log on i cannot get a connection to the netwrok or the internet.

does anyone know of a patch / firmware download etc that might solve the problem??

I suspect you need to remember to click on the "safely remove hardware" icon on the bottom right of your screen and highlight "mass storage device" and then stop , before unplugging the MP3 player (it's a small green arror with a small grey box underneath)

this should top the wireless problem

It could be a power issue USB ports work in pairs each pair can provide 500mA now if your mp3 player uses 260mA and the usb wireless adaptor uses 260mA then when you have them both connected to the same usb root hub (pair of usb ports) then 1 of them wont work.

You can use device manager to see what each device is useing, go to the bottom of the list and double click each of the USB root Hub's and click the power tab I find that mass storage devices (your mp3 player tend to use the full 500mA, my usb wireless mouse on my laptop uses 100mA and my finger print reader uses 260mA so I keep the finger print reader and the mouse receiver in the same pair and the hard drive goes in another port and the 2nd port doesnt get used.

By unplugging and rechecking the usb root hub power pages you will be able to work out which ports work together and use your ports to their fullest.
