HMRC have just issued me with a new tax code which is 384T. There was no explanation with the tax code notice, can anyone shed some light on why my tax code has changed and what it means?

It could be for any reason. A T code is usually issued to a second source of income where you have some allowances allocated from your personal allowances. Do you have 2 jobs? If not, call HMRC and ask for them to sort it.0

To be honest I don't believe you, there is no way that a coding notice for such a change from the standard personal allowance would be issued without any explanation of the reason for the change.0

I don't have a second job but will call them and see what they say.To be honest I don't believe you, there is no way that a coding notice for such a change from the standard personal allowance would be issued without any explanation of the reason for the change.
I should of mentioned It was issued online and there was no explanation with the tax code change hence why I've posted here. I'm an employee of my own limited company so any changes are sent to me via the HMRC PAYE online system.0 -

That sounds like a P6 (employer notification) rather than a P2 (employee notification). You should get a breakdown either in the post or in your personal self assessment account.0 -

Log into HMRC and you should be able to see the notification - and the breakdown - of the new tax code, downloadable as a pdf if you want it0 -

Ah well, yes, that is different. As others have said, you should get a P2 in the post to you as a taxpayer rather than as an employer, which will explain the reason for the code. If you can see it online even better.0
