I've had a thin client setup (one where it resets itself after a reboot) in my office for over 6 months hoping to get one of these calls so I can play along. No ones rang, makes me feel left out.

What's the significance of having a thin client setup (whatever that may be) in the context if getting one of these scam calls?

    I. too, like to waste their time. At the end of the last one I asked "Sean" whether his mother knew he was a thief. It obviously touched a nerve and he went mental. For an Indian, he had an in-depth knowledge of swear words.

Might've been better to ask him if he even knew his mother.

But then again: as another poster has said on here, this sort of thing has gone on for years and the scammers are going to factor into the 1 rupee an hour (or per day) they pay, the time-wasting 'games' played by some of their targets.

That's why I don't see the "entertainment" value in devoting in any time to them.

The only encounter I've ever had with this scam was when a neighbour asked me to drop by because he'd had a call from 'Microsoft' and the caller was going to ring him back.

When that happened, I simply cut through the scammer's spiel to enquire how come Microsoft was so concerned about the Apple computer sitting in front of me.

The conversation ended there and then. My friend has never been contacted again. Apple Rules OK . . . . even if you don't have one.

The thing is that whilst we all recognise the scam, many others do not. So for every 30 minutes we can waste their time we might be saving someone less savvy from falling for it.

  • I had a phone some months ago regarding this issue. Informing me that they were calling from Microsoft and something was wrong with my pc. I told the caller I would fix the issue myself and check on Microsoft boards for a solution and help. I also told him that I am really capable fixing any issue on my own pc. Then I put the phone down. At the time I was shopping, and the way the caller spoke to me said scam. All callers like this are after is your bank details.

Had one spare t5740 which I used to use for remote betting activities (i'd login to a thin client remotely), came within embedded windows and EWF enabled. Basically wanted to see what they tried to install. Then restart the PC and its gone.

Pointless waste of your time as they will do nothing at all so save your call, time and effort here by forgetting about it.

These guys are based in India and the UK will have no jurisdiction and no hope of catching the robbing low lifes.
