Virginmedia email changes

For anyone who uses a Virginmedia email account for their comping (including blueyonder and ntl email addresses) ...
You've probably received emails about the migration of their email service from google to their own new email platform, but when you get switched onto the new system there are a few changes that may not be obvious:
1. There is a default SPAM setting of 'Reject All SPAM messages'. If your comping email is anything like mine, this would mean that lots of emails don't make it to your account, potentially including the odd WEM!
To fix this, you will need to log into your account on webmail, go to the settings folder and change the SPAM setting (eg to 'Flag a message as SPAM and deliver to SPAM folder').
2. If you had any filters or rules set up on your account (eg to flag or forward emails containing words such as 'winner' or 'congratulations'), these are not being transferred to the new platform - you will have to set them up again.
Also, as far as I can see, the option to set up a filter based on the content of an email has been removed - you can only set up a filter based on the email subject.
Hope this helps!

I checked mine and it hasn't changed over yet - do you get a notification when it actually happens to your account?TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
Yes, there's an email with the subject 'Welcome to your new Virgin Media Mail' when your account moves over.0

I only found out about the blanket 'reject all spam' default setting by accident. I was watching for some discount vouchers and other stuff which appeared to take a long time coming through so googled 'Virgin spam' and found this. This default setting has cost me several pounds in lost vouchers. All Virgin customers BEWARE and check you settings as soon as you are notified that you have been switched.
SHAME ON YOU VIRGIN0 -
Virgin have just changed over one of my email accounts today and what a mess. Not my comping one but one I use for everything else
I've changed the settings to Flag a message as SPAM and deliver to SPAM folder but so far nothing has yet appeared in my spam folder. I find that hard to believe since lunchtime.
I've also found tonight loads of important emails I definitely did not move in my
bin
Oh and something else I've just read is that we can no longer search for specific text within an email. No possibility then of searching the word "congratulations" just to check nothing has been missed
To top that it seems to log me out after a minute or 2
Not impressed0 -
I got the email a few days ago - I use outlook client normally so logged onto the VM site to find almost 3000 emails in spam, going back way before I got the email to say I'd been switched. Who knows what it had already dumped as it auto deletes everything in the spam box after 30 days. Fair enough the nigerian scammers & phishing emails, but there was a load of just regular mail shots in it and 3 reset password things that I'd given up on as they hadn't come through. Not very pleased. Also I can't log in when I'm not on a desktop, whereas I never had a problem checking on my phone before if I was waiting for something important, or away. I've had a whinge on the forums - suggest others do too.TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

You must have all mine then Oliveoyl
The sort of mess appears to be determined by your original email box ending (sorry don't know what the correct term is)
This one of mine that's been changed was an "Ntlworld" account. My "virginmedia" boxes have yet to be changed.
I haven't looked yet this morning. Can't face it again0 -
Advice generally is never use an e-mail address tied to your broadband provider, stops any future issues with e-mail access if you switch providers.0
