CCJ Impact

Hi there, first time poster here, so if this question has been answered before, I apologise!

I have a CCJ on my credit file, which unsurprisingly is in the poor category! In December, it will have been 6 years so it will lift from my file. My question is, what, if any, sort of impact will the CCJ going have on my score? Will it improve automatically?

Cheers,

Joe

    Hi

As soon as the CCJ goes from your credit file then potential lenders searching your file will not be able to see it was ever there, and so their lending decision will not take it in to account at all.

Potential lenders don't see the score or rating the credit reference agencies sell to you so don't worry about what they show. But yes if this is the only big negative on file then the score the agencies sell to you should improve as soon as it drops off.

    Hi there,

    Welcome to MSE.

Tixy is right - once the CCJ comes off your file your score will start to improve…however, what is unclear from your post is whether or not the judgement has been paid? If the CCJ hasn’t been paid in full you may need further advice about how to deal with it and what your options are.
