You can go away for 4 weeks on esa. Make sure you have decent travel insurance , it's very pricey though.0

You are going for 5 weeks so you must inform them. So often on here are posts from people who don't inform the DWP of change of circumstance and years later get a nasty shock.
Just be on the safe side and inform DWP ESA in writing with proof of delivery you can then enjoy your holiday without thinking about DWP.Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".0 -

Got travel insurance & yes, it's pricey.:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0 -
To not inform them would be counted as fraud and could come back to haunt you years down the line. For the sake of losing 4 weeks of ESA I would inform them.

I believe you would continue to receive ESA for up to 4 weeks if you go abroad. This is from the gov.uk site Claiming Benefits if going abroad
You do need to let them know though.0 -
You are aware that going abroad for over 4 weeks would affect your entitlement, so to fail to declare you are abroad would be a criminal offence.
Surely the easiest course would be to go for 3 weeks 6 days & declare it. No break in claim, no offence and you get your trip abroad. An all round win.
To answer your question, it's likely the dwp would find out.0 -
I don't think the OP is asking whether or not to report it, they're asking whether if they go for longer will the claim be stopped leading to reapplying and another assessment, or will they just 'pause' the claim for a week.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

you will have a 20 page form to fill in and they would stop your claim AFAIK for a 5 week break less than 4 they should only suspend it less than 2 they should continue to pay but will try not to
out of interest how does anyone think the dwp would find out if it was e.g. less than 2 weeks, longer it might be that they write to you for some reason and you fail to reply and they stop paying
eta i wonder exactly how many people fail to notify them when going abroad?0
