Really glad it worked out better than you expected and that she was ok with you. Is that your finally agreed amount now? Your final paragraph makes it sound as though you still have some details to thrash out with her.
I also have to travel 400 miles a month to visit elderly mother, (lots of people have family at a far distance) she said she couldn't allow extra travel for that, but managed to increase a couple of other areas a little to help cover it. I save a lot by spending less on food than she gave me too, it works out fine so I hope yours does too. Now you know where you are, get that budget set up straight away and open the £2.99 bottle of Aldi plonk to celebrate once you've done it!
