fault with tv or dvd player?

hi,
we have had our lcd tv since march and about a month ago we got a dvd home cinema system which is connected to the tv via the hdmi slot. over the past week when watching a dvd the screen goes grey but the dvd is still playing because we can hear the sound. to put it right we have to turn off the dvd player and then turn it on again. is it a fault with the dvd player or the lcd tv?

Assuming that the problem isn't solved by cycling to a different input and then back to HDMI by pressing AV on your TV remote then I'd presume it's a faulty DVD player.

Have you tried using component out rather than HDMI to see if that improves things?

hi,
regarding trying a different connection. well we plan to do that to find out whether it is the dvd player or the tv.
however we dont want to just use a different input permanently because it is only through the hdmi connection that hd upscaling is possible.

it hasnt happened again since last week. so i am puzzled. i hope it doesnt happen again. i dont fancy having to try and get currys to send someone out to fix it.
